There are some mornings when a cold shake just doesn’t feel right. In order to ignite my digestive fires and balancing my doshas according to ayurvedic principles, I am experimenting with a variety of whole grains and spices to create interesting and nutritious breakfast cereals. This recipe turned out to be wildly scrumptious and is a wholesome Millet almond milk cereal. Millet remains under-appreciated in our western hemisphere, despite its low price tag and wild variety of usage. A truly wholesome, ancient grain that’s been widely consumed elsewhere for thousands of years. It’s highly nutritious, with naturally occurring fiber, B vitamins, and several dietary minerals. It’s also gluten free and highly alkaline, so it’s easily digestible and easy on the stomach.
I added fresh ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and fresh black berries, some dried mulberries and cherries and let it simmer for about 20 min. The color turned into a rich earthy tone, I sprinkled with a few cacao nibs and the overall dish was intensely satisfying on so many levels. Try it out and ignite your digestive fires:) Namaste and enjoy ❤
